The LDG Community in conjunction with the Transparency team at DCLG and the LG group are planning a series of events and activities over a 6-month period to encourage use of open data sets and developments of some really useful apps.
The event will be taking the “speed-dating” approach and I will be running the social media round table with Anna Fenston. On top of social media, there will also be search and open data at the ‘speed-dating’ roundtable sessions at the event.
With the demand for cost reductions, CLG calling for innovation in the public sector, ‘Big Society’, calls for more open government data and increasing restrictions on travel, the time is right to re-examine what social media offers local government.

As all of you might already know, I was a CELEB for a day last week on board the HMS President. If you’re still a bit clueless, you can check out the details here in my earlier post last week.
So last week, the Learning Pool Summer Party took place on board the HMS President. There was a lot going on that day but I think the best experience that day for me was playing the ‘Snakes and Ladders’ game with jelly babies.

Yesterday I had the time of my life! I had gotten the opportunity to join other girl geeks in London as part of a “London Girl Geek Dinners” event at Regent St. I thought it would be an interesting thing to share anyways with my readers.
